Care and Handling

These are fiber-based archival giclee prints. If cared for properly this artwork will maintain its appearance and condition for more than a lifetime – it is rated at 100+ years. Mounting and framing of the prints should be done with extreme care and attention to detail.  (Professional framing, or flat portfolio storage with archival paper interleaves is recommended.)

All prints are made with large borders in order to: (a) protect the image area from finger prints, handling and other damage, and (b) inhibit deterioration of the image due to aging or environmental conditions.

The hand-written notations on the back of the print include the title (usually the model’s name and reference number) and the location and year the image was made. I give each print a unique edition number on the back, which we also keep on record.  Each print is signed and dated in pencil on the back; 8.5×11 prints are also signed in ink on the front, and larger limited edition prints have my studio seal embossed in the lower right front corner.*

These exhibition prints are custom made, one at a time, so there may be some variation in appearance. Your print(s) may seem slightly darker, lighter or somehow different from other prints you own or reproductions you’ve seen in books or on the web. Some variation is to be expected between different kinds of media and between different prints of the same image. Even identical prints may look different under different lighting situations. I suggest you view your print(s) in a bright environment, near a window or under an exhibition spotlight. (Reminder: don’t leave prints in direct sun for long periods)  Of course, if you are dissatisfied with the appearance of any print, please contact me immediately and I will make arrangements to replace it. And please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
